Carlow University to launch new cryptocurrency
scholarship
Carlow University is to launch a new cryptocurrency scholarship in order to promote interest in the technology and its potential.
The scholarship will be available to students studying business, computer science, engineering or maths. It will be awarded to the student who demonstrates the most potential in these areas when it comes to cryptocurrency.
The scholarship will be worth €2000 and will be given out every year.
Carlow University’s vice-chancellor, Dr. Tom Healy, said: “Cryptocurrencies are a rapidly evolving field with huge potential. We want to encourage our students to explore this technology and its potential, and this scholarship is one way of doing that.”
He added that the university is “keen to play a role in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship” and believes that cryptocurrency “has the potential to be a major disruptor in the financial industry”.
Carlow University students to receive cryptocurrency
Carlow University is the first Irish university to offer cryptocurrency courses. The courses, which are available to students in business and law, will cover topics such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. The courses are being offered by the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences.
